  • Feeling as though nose work has changed my life, I was thrilled to read Suzanne's book. She used her words to describe my feelings of the fun and joy that happens on the nose work journey. Through Suzanne's and Winnie's stories we get to glimpse a bit of their nose work experience. We get to see that loving bond that develops as a dog is allowed to search and use their nose, and the handler watches and learns. They truly become a team. Their stories are inspiring and educational. I highly recommend this heartfelt book.

  • I assumed this book followed a dog trained for service work, for example, in the military or helping the disabled. I’d never heard of scent work—a new sport done with a dog and its human just for fun. In this book, I learned all about scent work and more importantly, its incredible benefits to the human partner. The book follows Suzanne and Winnie’s journey through successes and failures in scent work training and trials, where the goal is completing, not competing, and both partners finish happy, relaxed, and with a stronger bond. Highly recommended for dog lovers and anyone who needs an uplifting story.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed Suzanne Catalano's book chronicling her adventures with her dog Winnie in the sport of nose work. This is a book I would have loved to have had when I began on my own journey in this sport. It is full of lots of detailed information about two of the major venues of nose work; NACSW and AKC. It also has lots of interesting information about many factors that influence how dogs scent. In addition, it also tells the love story between a woman and her dog and how their relationship deepened through participation in this unique sport. If you are an animal lover, especially one interested in K9 scent(nose) I think you will really enjoy this book.

  • As an animal lover and member of the military, I couldn't wait to read this book. I have worked around so many working fogs and even cared fir an injured dog. This book enlightened me to a sport I had no idea existed. What an interesting way to learn communication with your animal doing what he instinctually loves...sniffing! I enjoyed the stories and advice. Listening is definitely something we all need to do better when communicating with our animals. Thanks for a great read.

The stories unfold through dynamic lead characters who evoke empathy in the reader. These characters experience heartbreak and betrayal inflicted by unlikeable secondary figures, whose back-stories provide insight into their actions. The interactions are enthralling; the plots are rich with emotion, and the descriptions are beautifully picturesque.
